It appears as though we may target Wine Country Weekend for a visit this year. There are several events that will be happening throughout the county at wineries and restaurants so this seems like a great chance to get a broad perspective.

We stayed very local in June of 2009; stayed at The Lodge at Sonoma, took in the sites at local wineries and restaurants, and enjoyed the small town atmosphere. What a great trip and really it is the reason I started writing about Sonoma. This time around though, we are planning to venture out to meet some of the people I have connected with and become more familiar with the gems throughout Sonoma County.

1) The Fourth of July — from the parade to the fireworks, no one does it like us — at least this side of the Mississippi. I’m not kidding, we really know how to party like it’s 1899.
2) The Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival — this is the event for the locals. It has a long history and we love it so. Wine, art, and food on our wonderful Plaza, there is so much to see and do.
3) The Sonoma International Film Festival — An amazing line-up of films, from documentaries and short subjects to full-length feature films and much more, plus all the great food and wine that we are known for, and its clear you will have the time of your life.
4) The Sonoma Jazz Festival — Often ranging beyond Jazz, this is always a great party, with amazing music, food, wine, and good times. This year we will host Sheryl Crow, The Gipsy Kings, John Fogerty, and many other class acts, all very close to downtown Sonoma with amazing restaurants, wineries, art, and boutiques.
5) Your Own Event — One of the great things about the Sonoma Valley is that there is so much to see and do — it isn’t just wineries. For suggestions, see my “One Perfect Day in Sonoma Valley” accounts, number one and two.
